In octavo

a tribute to the world of books

In a space that is perhaps an old attic, perhaps a bedroom, a library or the place where all the printed books in the world end up, three people move, gradually revealing the multiple universes that are hidden inside the pages of a book, on a pile of hard covers or under a large album that acts as a rain cover and a baseball bat. On stage, in addition to the books, an aerial hoop, a trapeze and a Chinese pole help to multiply the levels in which the three artists move: exploring the stories that are created before their eyes, they transport the spectator with them through tropical storms and enchanted forests.

Thus the show begins on a path of yellow bricks, towards a desert island, climbs the holm oak of the baron in the trees when a storm washes away the ambitions of the young Cosimo and opens a new page, in a surprising sequence of situations that as they appear have already flown away, leaving the spectator-reader with the curiosity of what will appear in the next chapter.

In octavo is a way of folding the printed page in order to obtain the pages of a book, as well as the title of a circus performance that is a small declaration of love for reading.

The performance, born for fun during the summer of 2022 on the occasion of the project "Circo Contemporaneo FVG" is now in the creation phase and will see its debut in the summer of 2023 since the three artists have decided to continue with their artistic research after the success of the summer presentations. The proposal is designed for children and adolescents from the age of eight.

The three artists

Together with the newly graduated circus performers, three artists who have been giving life to the Circo all'inCirca projects for years, in particular by managing the aerial acrobatics courses, took part in the "Circo Contemporaneo FVG" project. They are Silvia Di Landro, who teaches Chinese pole and aerial acrobatics and is the "deus ex machina" of the Brocante festival; Irene Giacomello, a teacher of ground acrobatics, coordinator of the circus school and specifically trained in the trapeze discipline; Valentina Bomben, whose multifaceted artistic vocation exceeds the world of circus, pedagogue, teacher of aerial acrobatics and in particular of fabrics and hoop. Although they have been collaborating with Circo all'inCirca for several years and have been putting on performances and shows there for a long time, this is the first time they have worked together on stage. The external choreographic eye comes from Marco Pericoli, a dancer graduated from Paolo Grassi, who collaborates with Circo all'inCirca, Arearea and many other realities of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
