Adapted Circus

for a 100% inclusive circus

in collaboration with “La Nostra Famiglia”

The initiative is aimed at a study on the adaptability of circus disciplines and its materials to educational situations involving children with BES (Special Educational Needs) and children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Starting from the work of Craig Quot, an American juggler and pioneer in the implementation of equipment that allows psychomotor education for people with various disabilities, the Circo all’inCirca social circus team creates a series of projects adapted to the needs of local organizations that work with BES and disabilities.

This work begins from the study of the needs of children followed by organizations in the municipality of Udine that deal with these issues. The specific objective of this observation is the implementation of some prototypes.

The general objective is the observation and collection of the necessary data and an initial creation of the materials: objects and machinery that can make children who are unable to have such experiences due to their psychophysical limitations experience the sensations related to the circus (balance, suspension in the void, resistance, flexibility).

This experimental phase will be followed by the production of scientific material and possibly the publication of the results in a university research project.
